Optometrist / Ophthalmic Medicines Prescriber
B.Optom UNSW (Hons), CertOcTher (ACO)

Phung completed her Bachelor of Optometry with Honours at The School of Optometry and Vision Science, UNSW, Sydney. Furthering her interests in eye health management, she completed post-graduate studies in Advanced Ocular Disease Management.

She achieved her Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics through the Australian College of Optometry (ACO), Melbourne. Prescribing ophthalmic medicines helps in the management of eye diseases, in particular, dry eye conditions and glaucoma.

Myopia control involves treatments to slow the progression of short-sightedness in young children and sometimes adults. Phung completed the Managing Myopia (Course 1) and Complex Cases (Course 2), conducted by the Brien Holden Vision Institute Academy. She remains a member of continuing education programs with ACO and Centre For Eye Health.

She worked with Dr Rod Swindle and Associates in her early career. She acknowledges the valuable mentoring she received from her senior peers. In 2005, Phung took over Rod Optical Wollongong (established 1981) and moved to our current location in the heart of town.

She continued to grow our practice with an emphasis on high-quality eye care and attention to detail.
Her special interests include ocular diseases, ocular medicines, myopia control and dry eye treatments.

She feels privileged and grateful to be doing something she enjoys every day. Her motivation is knowing she can improve the lives of her patients, by optimizing eyesight correction and looking after their eye health.

Phung is married and a mother of two. Inspired by the beauty of life and new experiences. She enjoys photography, music, travelling, reading and fitness. She treasures the time she has with her family and friends.

Jenny enjoyed working at ECP Wollongong part-time during her studies. Being myopic from a young age, she personally understands the impact of eyesight on life. She feels privileged to be able to assist patients in achieving good vision for life. She studied dispensing through Essilor education courses and in office training programs.

She loves fashion eyewear and getting the perfect frame to compliment a patient's face is a joy for her. With over 14 years in the optical industry, she is continually motivated by the advances in lens technology and frame design. She takes pride in being helpful and making sure patients have been well looked after. Being a long time contact lens wearer, her personable approach to teaching contact lens care is well received by patients.

When you get to know Jenny, you will realise she has a great appreciation for all life has to offer. She is a fitness fanatic, runner, swimmer, scuba diver, rock climber, foodie, freelance traveller, and loves festivals, live gigs and comedy shows.

Optical Assistant / Admin Officer
Currently on leave

Ivy, aka Little Ivy (because she is petite), has recently joined our team. Ivy is always pleasant and has a calm demeanour. You may confuse her with our little Jenny Nguyen who has left us to pursue her career in Law. Ivy has taken over her role. Ivy is also fluent in Vietnamese.

Ivy previously worked with Abbotts Medical Supplies, supplying medical equipment to Hospitals. She is very organised and enjoys this health care administration role. Her caring, reliable and likeable personality is a great comfort and joy for our practice.

In her free time, she enjoys checking out the latest fashion, spending time with her family and friends. You would be amazed what a foodie she is and how she still keeps her petite frame.
