MYOPIA
SHORT-SIGHTEDNESS
NEAR-SIGHTED
Short-sighted eyes may see well up close but may have difficulty seeing objects in the distance.
In this condition, light from distant objects are focused in front of the retina, hence distance vision is blurred. Near objects are focused more accurately on the retina, hence short vision is clearer.
Often patients may not be aware of mild to moderate myopia without having a chance to be tested.
Symptoms may include
- Squinting
- Eye strain
- Headaches with viewing distant objects, such as when driving, attending lectures, watching movies or TV
